Farewell Waitakere Train Station

I have been catching the Western Line train from Waitakere since my junior years in High School, back when the tickets were made of card and the train manager carried a ‘ticket punch’. So it was quite a shock to discover the public trains would no longer travel there, after 133 years of service.

Shortly after hearing about its cancellation from the rail network, I decided I wanted to make some small ode to its existence. So, I filmed the cortege service as it left the station. I considered narration or a visual description with the video, but in the end, I think the emptiness and resounding silence says enough…
